Porfiria Gomez

The AccuQuilt Gallery is happy to host the work of Porfiria Gomez!

Porfiria is a modern quilter enthusiast, self-proclaimed designer, and blogger. A native New Yorker with a heart that was born in the countryside of France. Known to many as one of the founders of Color of Connection. A non-profit organization fighting to share the love of quilting while making lasting connections with people of different walks of life. Her love of quilting comes from her mother. Some of Porfiria’s earliest memories was trading her baby doll with her cousin for her toy sewing machine. Most of her childhood she would watch her mother hand make quilts and dresses on her Singer vintage sewing machine (which I own today) while she baked pies, peanut butter cookies and her North Carolina Peach Cobbler all this while managing us six kids. Through her caring actions, her mother was providing the stepping stones to what would become my vision of my future. Today you can find Porfiria in her Brooklyn home creating beautiful modern quilts. Working on quilting patterns and design for her next project.
