I equate business to coaching a football team in my role as AccuQuilt’s Founder and Chairman of the Board. My favorite sayings are “Head West!”, “Where's the puck?” and “It's only creative if it sells.” My team is familiar with other ‘Steve-isms’ such as “since Hector was a pup” and “the customer is king.”
Though I received my mechanical engineering degree from Iowa State, MBA from Kansas University and YPO Executive MBA from Harvard Business School, I’m a Nebraska Cornhusker who loves GO BIG RED football.
I married my high school sweetheart and have the two greatest kids on earth and one in Heaven. I’m happiest in the great outdoors racing Ironman Triathlons, hunting with our two black labs, or traveling with family.
I am blessed with a great team and customers who challenge us to be the best. Thank you all for your support and for pushing TekBrands to continuously move forward and always ‘Head West!’
I have been proudly affiliated with AccuQuilt for the last 7 years. I served on the Advisory Board before becoming a Strategic Advisor and ultimately Chief Executive Officer. I have a passion for setting vision, providing leadership development and operational excellence to achieve results. As owner of IDEAL Advisory Group, I led a strategic growth and behavioral based consulting firm. Previously, as Chief Stores Officer at Charlotte Russe and Peek Kids, I was responsible for $1B in volume and lead an organization which included operations for 550 retail stores and 16K employees. Before, I served in executive leadership roles at Ann Taylor, Children's Place, Express and Victoria’s Secret.
I have a BA in Behavioral Science from the University of San Diego and have completed advanced leadership certificate programs at Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management and at Harvard Business School's extension program.
I joined TekBrands initially as a consultant in 2020 and transitioned to the role of CFO in July 2021. My previous experience includes senior financial management positions in retail and consumer products companies including Tall Tree Foods, Charlotte Russe and Gap, Inc. I earned a degree in Accounting as well as an MBA in Finance at the University of New Mexico, and in addition I am a certified public accountant.
My passion is building strong business partnerships to grow the business profitably and sustainably. I enjoy adding value through process improvements, providing solutions to complex problems, and working collaboratively with others to test different strategies in growing the business efficiently.
On a personal note, recently I have gotten married and added a golden retriever puppy to our household. This definitely put a damper on my beach volleyball habit! I am excited to join the team at AccuQuilt and I look forward to working together to continue to build this incredible success story.
For the past 20 years, I have held various marketing and creative positions of increasing responsibility within AccuQuilt. Now serving as Chief Brand & Product Officer, I am responsible for all omni-channel marketing efforts, marketing vision and strategy, and product development. My passion is in building brands through innovative marketing strategies and exceptional customer service.
Additionally, I have been instrumental in creating the AccuQuilt GO!® and Studio™ brand identities and spearheading the launch of the GO! Big® electric fabric cutter, GO! Qube® boxed sets, GO! Block on Board® (BOB®) dies and GO! Me® Easy Fabric Project Maker.
Outside of work, I am an artist at heart who can be found outdoors exploring with camera in hand or contemplating composition and color in one of my many unfinished quilting or design projects.
As the Chief of Staff for AccuQuilt I serve as a strategic business partner – focusing on the tactics needed for effective problem solving, project management, process redesign and performance management. By concentrating heavily on organizational culture and climate, I take pride in providing insight into the people that make up the AccuQuilt team. I have an education in industrial and organizational psychology and an eclectic background with experience in sales, human resources, project management, process development and strategic advising.
Originally a California native, I relocated to Nebraska in 2009. I have a full and busy household with my husband, 4 kids, 2 cats, and 2 dogs. I am an avid reader and have also taken up quilting since joining in early 2018.
I have been with AccuQuilt since 2009 and have been able to truly grow and develop my skillset over the last decade. I quickly transitioned to the operations and manufacturing side of the business after managing the customer support team. As the Chief Operating Officer I serve as a member of the executive team, using my problem solving and interpersonal skills to build and improve upon organizational processes. I believe my role as a leader is to prepare the team for their next great opportunity.
I am a sucker for innovative technology and am on a constant search for the “next cool gadget”. I enjoy spending my free time with my wife and kids, biking, or finding great new places to eat sweets.
As AccuQuilt’s VP of Finance, it's my responsibility to maintain accurate financials, manage business risk and oversee the cash in and out of the company. There isn't a department or division that my work doesn't touch.
I received my Bachelor's in Accounting and Master's in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. From there, I honed my skills in the manufacturing sector while working at Phillip's Manufacturing.
I joined AccuQuilt in 2012 because I was drawn to the company's focus on being the best at what they do. The enthusiasm and dedication to providing the best product for their customers was clear while I toured the company and spoke with the employees. I enjoy that every day brings new knowledge, new learning, new challenges and new opportunities.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my son and staying active in my church.
At AccuQuilt, every day is a new opportunity to create, improve and grow. Our core value is to Head West and it is just as ingrained in our culture as it is in how we approach our products. Bottom line, there is no book on how to be the best fabric cutter on the market, but that's the journey we're on and the goal we hold. When we say "Head West", we mean to embrace change, explore opportunities and push boundaries.
Our hiring process takes time, but the result is a team of innovators who are up to the challenge of owning their work and being the best at what they do.
Sound like you? Let's talk.
